November 8, 1937 - October 24, 2016

James Ellis Heard, 78, of Benton passed away Monday, October 24, 2016 at Saline Memorial Hospice House in Bryant, Arkansas. He was born on November 8, 1937 in Leola, AR to the late Bishop Albert and Dessie Leona Heard. Mr. Heard had retired from Owosso Furniture Company in Benton.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Rose Wells Heard, brothers, Bruce Heard, Carl Dewitt Heard, Odis Brumley, and Gerrell Heard, sisters, Mamie Mays and Fern Nolan, and a special friend, Bennie Batchelder.

Survivors include son, Robert Dale Gambill and wife Tonya; daughter, Rita Carol Heard and Paul Miller; sister, Linda Beck and husband Lloyd; 4 grandchildren, Delanie Brooke Chandler, Ellis Edward Sellers, Megan Rose Sellers, and Harold Andrew Fletcher; 1 great granddaughter, Cadence Elissabeth Chandler, a dear friend, Harold Gloston, and nieces, nephews, and friends.

A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 28, 2016 at McPherson Cemetery in Sardis with Robert Gambill officiating. Pallbearers are Eddie Sellers, Andrew Fletcher, Paul Miller, Harold Fletcher, Doug Fletcher, and Landon Miller. Guitar accompaniment by Landon Miller.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 27th at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home (315-4047).

So sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in the words spoken at Revelation 21:3,4
(3) "With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. (4)
And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away".
