Dee Davenport Callahan was born on June 28, 1922 in Mull, Arkansas to Whit and Rosa Dillard Davenport.

She was a sister to 12 siblings, and is survived by 3 brothers: Glen, Zell, and Joe Davenport all of Yellville; and one sister, Linda Kay Rucker of Mountain Home.

She leaves behind a son, Lynn Nelson, of Yellville; a daughter, Janice Waggoner of Austin, Texas;

4 grandsons: Ian Waggoner of Austin, Texas; Jason Nelson of Scottsdale, Arizona; Joshua Flow of St. Louis, Missouri; and Ben Nelson of Fayetteville, Arkansas;

3 granddaughters: Heidi Gregory of Mountain Home; Heather Nelson of North Little Rock; and Hilde White of Jonesboro, Arkansas;

10 great-grandchildren of whom she was especially close to: Charlie, Cate, and Ellie Waggoner of Austin, Texas;

and many friends, including Linda and Mike Land, whom she would place at the top of her list.

Her husband, James C. Callahan preceded her in death.

Dee was a member of the Yellville Church of Christ.

She was a multi-talented entrepreneur, with many careers, including years as an owner and manager of a motel and restaurant in Rogers, Arkansas and working as a funeral pre-needs counselor in North Little Rock, Arkansas.

After returning to her hometown in 1997, she became well known as an elegant and gracious hostess as well as a wonderful cook.

Dee passed away on September 28, 2016in Gassville, Arkansas.

She will be greatly missed.

Funeral service for Mrs. Callahan will be 2:00 pm Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Burns Funeral Home Chapel in Yellville, Arkansas with Jon Hendrix and Randy Willingham officiating.

Interment will follow at Caney Cemetery south of Yellville.

Pallbearers will be Dane Hudson, Michael Rotenberry, Ian Waggoner, Joshua Flow, Ben Nelson, and Charlie Waggoner.

So sorry to hear of Aunt Dee's passing. I have wonderful treasured memories. She will be missed. She's at peace now in the arms of Jesus. R.I.P. my dear sweet Aunt Dee. ❤️
