Robert L. Elkins, 83 of Searcy passed away Saturday, August 27, 2016 in Searcy, Arkansas. He was born September 1, 1932 in Clarksville, Arkansas to the late Arthur Lee Elkins and Mayme Sue Elkins. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, 10 months and 17 days, Bobbie Jo Coleman Elkins; brothers, Bill Elkins and Vernon Elkins; sister, Violet Bynum; sister-in-law, Jamie Clay; brother-in-law; Alton Coleman.

Bob was a faithful Christian man who loved his family dearly. He was a charter member of the West Side Church of Christ. He was a graduate of Hartman High School in Hartman, Arkansas. After high school graduation he enrolled into the University of Arkansas where he majored in Animal Husbandry. During his time at UA he was a charter member of the Farmhouse Fraternity. After college Bob joined the United States Army where he served two years in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1956. Bob spent his working career as a sales representative and sales supervisor with Armour Agri Chemical Company formerly USS Agri Chemicals and retired after 30 years of faithful service. He enjoyed golfing and fishing as well as watching many sports including football, baseball and basketball.

He is survived by his sister, Betty Simms; brother, Don Elkins (Jean); sister-in-law, Margaret Davis (Richard); brothers-in-law, Sprout Coleman (Shirley) and James Coleman; 16 nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2016 at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home in Searcy with the visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Romance Cemetery in Romance, Arkansas.

We were deeply sadden by the passing of our good friend Bob Elkins. Bob and I have had many rounds of golf together and I will always remember him as the most patient person I have ever met. He will be missed greatly. Our sincere condolences to the family and love ones of our dear friend.
