Kenneth Fletcher HutsonI am a Veteran.

of Conway, TX

September 14, 1926 - September 30, 2014

Kenneth Fletcher Hutson, 88, of Conway, Arkansas, passed away in the home of his son, Terry, in Bastrop, Texas, on September 30, 2014. The son of Jack and Erma Hutson of Decatur, Illinois, Ken was born in Decatur on September 14, 1926. He grew up in the Boiling Springs area and attended Warrensburg-Latham High School in Warrensburg, Illinois. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1944, served in World War II, and was a seaman on the USS Missouri. Much of his service was spent in the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign for which he received a medal; he also received a Victory Medal in 1945.

Kenneth married Betty Nadine Janvrin of Warrensburg on March 24, 1943, in St. Louis, Missouri. They lived in Warrensburg for over 20 years as Ken was employed at Rath Meat Packing Co. in Decatur. He was transferred to Houston, Texas, in 1966 when he was promoted to plant manager of the Houston branch. He also lived in Thibodaux, Louisiana; Pineville, LA.; Little Rock, Arkansas, and Mayflower, AR. as a meat packer.

Ken is survived by his three children--Terry Bruce Hutson (Dolores) of Bastrop, Texas; Sheila Rae (Hernandez) Hutson of Friendswood, TX; and Rocky Gene Hutson (Karen) of Quitman, Arkansas. He also leaves 5 grandchildren-Leah Rae Hernandez Calloway (Vince) of Friendswood, TX; Clinton Howard Hutson (Sarah) of Austin, TX; Ginny Renee Hutson Robison (Chris) of Houston, TX; Casey Fletcher Hutson of Bastrop, TX; and Lori Renee Hutson Ripperger (Nathan) of Ward, AR. The 10 great-grandchildren are: Jade and Jesse Calloway of Friendswood, Avery & Ashlyn Hutson of Austin; Clark, Jay, & Neil Robison of Houston; Samira & Brynn Hutson of Bastrop, and Kylie Ripperger of Ward, AR. Ken has two step-grandsons (Patrick and Spencer) in Conway and Quitman, AR. Ken also leaves behind sisters-in-law, Sandra Janvrin Bennett (Butch) of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; and Rosemary Janvrin Wickline Pfiefer of Harristown, IL., as well as a longtime friend, Macel Fleming, of Mayflower, AR. He also is survived by many nephews and nieces.

Ken enjoyed sports throughout his lifetime. He golfed until retirement, was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, and also became a fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks, both basketball and football, proudly displaying the ''Hawg'' in his home. Ken also followed the stock market and tuned in daily for updates throughout his adult life. In addition, he was a good cook who always served a complete and wonderful breakfast to his guests.

His wife, Betty, preceded him in death in 1992 after a battle with cancer while living in Mayflower, AR. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Erma Hutson of Decatur, IL.; his in-laws, Wallace (Bud) Janvrin and Rosemond of Warrensburg, IL.; and his two brothers and wives, Dale Hutson (Betty) of Wapela, IL; and Harold Hutson (Alma) of Decatur, IL.

A visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, October 4th in Conway, Arkansas, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home with graveside services following at 12:30 p.m. at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Conway. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Encompass Home Health or Asera Care Hospice (both of Bastrop, TX).

Kenny was the best father-in-law any lady would hope for. He was such a great guy who loved and enjoyed the family, enjoyed visiting and telling stories, was so attentive to the grandkids and great-grandkids, and never had a harsh word for any of us. I've been his daughter-in-law for 50 years, and I can honestly say I truly loved him, and I always felt totally accepted into his family circle. I have great memories which will be with me forever. He was the best!! This last year with Kenny in our home wasn't the easiest year of his life or ours, but I will cherish the experience and will look back with fondness and love, knowing that now he is in God's hands and he is at peace.
