of Marshall, AR
July 1, 1925 - September 16, 2014
Seth Richard Blough, age 89 of Marshall, Arkansas went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at his home. He was born in Caney, Kansas on July 01, 1925 to Addison Milton Blough and Elsie (Newman) Blough and moved to Punkin Flat at the age of 12.
Richard served in the US Navy and was a World War II Veteran. He worked in the oil fields in Kansas and Oklahoma until he was in an explosion that took the life of his brother and left him with 3rd and 4th degree burns. They moved back to Arkansas to be close to Pauline's family. Richard then worked as a bookkeeper for Jack Simpkins at the Searcy County Auction Barn (Marshall Sale Barn). Richard accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of 40 and was forever changed. He joined Highland Avenue Baptist Church on September 30, 1965. Richard was blessed in being able to have a perfect attendance record in Sunday school for 30 years straight without missing a Sunday. He loved God, reading his Bible, going to Sunday school, going to church and the fellowship he had with his Christian friends and church family. He was an active member and deacon (ordained June 28, 1970) of the First Baptist Church of Leslie (joined July 24, 1966) until April 27, 1983 when he moved to Marshall and joined the Marshall First Baptist Church and continued to be active as a deacon and member until after he had his first stroke on November 03, 2004 and could no longer continue his perfect attendance. He received a 30-year perfect attendance plaque from the church, and Richard gave God the Glory for giving him the health to be able to achieve that record. His life was a testimony for his Lord and Savior. Richard will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. He left us with wonderful memories to cherish.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; one sister; and two grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Judith Pauline (Stone) Blough of the home; two sons, Jimmie Lee Blough and Timothy Earl Blough and wife Sherian; three daughters, Pamela Ann (Blough) Gasaway and husband Randy, Barbara Kay (Blough) Branscum and husband John and Kathryn Sue (Blough) Reyes and husband Louis; twenty-one grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
