Marie George

of Mountain View, AR

September 19, 1935 - August 19, 2014

Marie Romine George was born September 19, 1935 to Amos and Bertha Romine in Swifton, Arkansas. She grew up in a farming family surrounded by loving parents, four brothers, and a sister. In 1954 she met and began dating Thomas ''T-Bone'' George. T-Bone and Marie were married on June 8, 1955 in Mississippi. During their marriage they were blessed with two children, Debi and Norman. When her children were young Marie was a stay at home mom, as they both reached school age she began a career at Lawrence Manufacturing. She truly enjoyed working at the dress factory and there she began many friendships that have lasted a lifetime. After both of her children were grown, Marie went to work cooking on the towboat that T-Bone captained. Upon their retirement, T-Bone and Marie moved to Mountain View. She spent her golden years quilting, sewing, going to auctions, and listening to music on the square. T-Bone and Marie enjoyed many wonderful years together until his passing in November of 2011. After T-Bone's death, Marie began working as a ''Pink Lady'' volunteer at the hospital. She spent as much time volunteering as possible and thoroughly enjoyed every second. Marie went to join T-Bone on August 19, 2014. She was very loved and shall be greatly missed by all.
Marie is survived by her mother, Bertha Lee (Barker) Romine; one son, Norman George of Judsonia, Arkansas; one daughter, Debi Segraves and husband David of Mountain View, Arkansas; three brothers, Ed Romine of Hoxie, Arkansas, Bill Romine of Duran, Illinois, and Clarence Romine of Seminole, Oklahoma; granddaughter, DeSha Mills and husband Stan, and Marisa Rector and husband Tim of Mountain View, Arkansas; great-grandchildren, Sydney Swafford, Andrew Swafford, Katie Swafford, George Rector, Chloe Mills, and Erin Mills all of Mountain View, Arkansas.
A visitation will take place at Roller Coffman Chapel on Thursday, August 21, 2014 from 6-8PM. Another visitation will take place on Friday, August 22, 2014 from 9-11AM at Bryan Funeral Home in Hoxie, Arkansas. Following the visitation a graveside service will take place beginning at 11:00AM at Lawrence Memorial Park in Lawrence County, Arkansas officiated by Tina Romine Russell.
Pallbearers are Nathan Romine, Windel Romine, Hoby Romine, David Hugg, Mike Adkinson, and Larry Romine.

Aunt Marie meant so much to our family. I'm sorry that I only got to visit as a kid. But I have -- and always will -- cherish the bunny baby doll she made for me. My heart goes out to all her love her. I know she will live and love on in the hearts of all who held her close, which are many.

I remember Aunt Marie, as being one of the most talented ladies I have ever known. It seemed as if there was not anything, she could not do. She gardened, cooked, canned almost anything you could eat; she sewed so very well, she was a wonderful hostess, always opened up her home to family, & she never seemed more happy being around all her family and T-Bone's family. All the nieces and nephews all loved going to her house. There were always things to do; and she always had new recipes to try out, and they were always so very good. Her hot Biscuit & Hot Chocolate gravy whenever she made them, you always felt special at her house. Her quilts that she made, if they didn't win first prize at a county fair then, they all should have been. She was so very creative is so many ways. She loved her husband, her children all of her grand children & her great grandchildren. She was a special lady in every since of the word. We all loved her, and she surely loved all of her family, and extended families. I hope and pray that when she first went to heaven that those family and friends that had gone on before her; that they were all there to greet her into heaven is the most precious way. My prayer for her is that God was glorified by her arrival. By Marie being in heaven, she will be able to spend time without pain, without sorrow, without fear, or sadness ever again. That her days of eternity would be filled with so much love and excitement of just being in the most precious place and spend time with the most precious one ever JESUS. She is in heaven; maybe she is there just adoring JESUS, and who knows she may be in heaven’s choir singing and praising Jesus to start her time of Joy, for all of eternity? God Bless you Marie; and thank you for all that you did to share your life with all of us. Thank you for all the memories of you that you left behind, for all of us to have forever. Love Donna Parker, you niece, and Wayne’s daughter. I just know she was so very glad to see you, as she went to be with Jesus only last year.
