My deepest sympathies, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on ""Sonny-shine"" Although I did not know him long, I knew, very quickly, he was one in a million. His gracious family, his love for all of them, the twinkle in his eyes with loving and moooving stories of his farm, watching those cows. Stories of his grandchildren how he loved each and everyone of them so much. How he gleamed when his wife walked into the room. He was grateful for Amanda, staying beside him all the time, you are a very special nurse!!. Sonny, a lucky man to have such wonderful, caring, giving family members. I feel honored to have met ya'll and was very saddened by his passing. He had strong faith, he's present with the Lord, no tears there. I find comfort with that thought and know you do too.

Jeanne,
I don't know if you will remember me-
You trained me at the switchboard, when I started working at the Conway Human Development Center (Children's Colony). That was in September, 1974. On 9-14-14, I will celebrate 40 years...and yes, I still work full time there. I have been a special education teacher-then a special education supervisor, since 1978.
I remember Sonny's pleasant, ever present, smile-and the fun we used to have. I am so, so sorry.
Know, I care.
Ms. Esther
(M. Kershner-Mitchell)
I re-married in 1994, to Dr. Ron Mitchell. He passed away in 2009. While we did not have as many years as you and Sonny, I truly DO understand your hurt.

We rode many a mile on many a back road over my 20 years in the Field Services Division (1982-2002). When I first came on as Deputy Director and Chief of Field Services, you were my mentor and taught me the fine art of the Area Coordinator, kept me from "stepping in it" when dealing with county and local government. You were always ready to go the extra mile when disaster struck our state. Your advice and expertise, not only to me and the ADEM/OES directors but sometimes all the way up to the Governor's Office, was vital to our state's disaster recovery efforts. Even through time and circumstances have taken us far away we have wonderful memories of your and Jeannie's friendship and wonderful times traveling together. May God Bless all of the Akers Family.

I was so fortunate and honored to take care of this sweet man and his family. Through all the pain and complications, he kept his silly sense of humor. He left quite an impression on me. And though I didn't know him for very long, he made his mark as a patient I won't ever forget. May God bless you during this difficult time. And know that the entire staff of 4 north are thinking and praying for you.
