Joe Francis Stewart

Joe Francis Stewart, 73, of Conway passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at his home. He was the son of the late Sam and Effie Stewart of the Naylor community.
He graduated from Mt. Vernon High School and the University of Arkansas. He was in the U.S. Navy and served on the U.S.S. Arcadia. During his career as an electrical engineer, he worked in several areas of the U.S. as well as Singapore and Borneo.
He is survived by his wife, Erma (Brown) Stewart of Quitman; son Billy Stewart and wife Marilyn of Conway; three daughters, Beverly Stewart of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Brenda Benton of Quitman, and Shelly Stewart and husband Jason Steele of Conway; three grandchildren; brother, Robert Stewart of Mt. Vernon; three sisters, Helen Bartley of Little Rock, Mary Harlan of Searcy, and Kathryn Gardner of Greenbrier; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Monday, November 23, 2009 at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.
