David Michael Montgomery, 58, of Jonesboro, was born on August 17, 1951 and died on November 1, 2009.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mabel Simms Montgomery and Sterlin “S.G.” Montgomery.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Montgomery of the home; one son, Brad Montgomery and his wife Rosemarie of West Memphis; one daughter, Shayla and her husband Dr. Trent Johnson of Georgetown, KY; two grandchildren, Dakota and Cheyenne Montgomery of West Memphis; two sisters, Nelda Adams (Russell) and Margarett Gatlin (Bill); two brothers, Robert (Betty) and Randall Montgomery, all of the Bono area; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lerlene and Bob Treece of Marmaduke.
David attended Bono High School and graduated in 1969 from Westside High School. He received a BSE degree in agriculture and a Master of Science degree in business agriculture from Arkansas State University. He taught agri at Swifton High School and at Leachville High School. He later worked for E.C. Barton Lumber Co. in Paragould and managed the Barton’s Lumber in Lepanto for many years before moving back to Jonesboro to work for Barton’s. David was a past member of the Leachville Jaycees and a charter member of the Lepanto Lions Club. He was an active member of the Valley View Church of Christ. He loved fishing, hiking and taking cruises. He especially enjoyed the annual Barton’s fishing trip to Gastons each year. He enjoyed taking his nephew, Robbie Montgomery, fishing, driving his brother’s tractor, and playing with his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Roller-Farmers Union Chapel in Jonesboro with David Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include David Herriman, Kevin Truelove, Ronnie Pierce, Mitchell Smith, David Ozier, Dennis Hill, Mike Hudgens and John Tant. Honorary pallbearers will include Robbie Montgomery and Gary Masters.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
