of Conway, AR
May 21, 1955 - April 27, 2012
David Scott Brooks, 56, of Conway, AR went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 27, 2012, after a courageous battle with Mesothelioma cancer. He was stricken with the disease suddenly and with the love, support, and encouragement from his loving wife, Pam McDowell Brooks and loving family and friends, Scott fought courageously until his death some 4 months after his diagnosis.
Scott was born on May 21, 1955 in Pocahontas, AR. He married the love of his life Pam McDowell Brooks and together they formed a bond that lasted and strengthened each year of their marriage and up to Scott's final moments. Together, Scott and Pam (along with partners) owned and operated Pam McDowell Properties, a successful and leading real estate company in Conway.
Scott founded and actively managed and operated the successful Scott Brooks Insurance Company and enjoyed taking care of so many friends and customers. He was an outstanding professional who always took great care of his business and could always be counted on.
Scott made lifelong friends with whom he remained close to this day. For years, he stayed close to high school friends Lynn Pettus and Dr. Paul Burton by playing golf all over Little Rock and eventually at Chenal CC where he became a scratch golfer and great friend to his golf buddies. Scott played so much golf with his childhood friend Lynn, that they were nicknamed and will forever be known as the ''Sisters''.
Scott's love for golf led him to become a marshall at the 5th hole at Augusta National for the Masters golf Tournament. He served at Augusta for 7 years and had great memories of his times there. Scott will be watching over the 5th hole from above from now on.
After ''mastering'' golf, Scott learned to play gin rummy with the help of his golf buddies. His unique wit and refreshing attitude were great additions to the card game. It has been said that it takes a substantial investment to become good at gin, but Scott, at least in his mind, mastered the game in short order. Between the ''sisters'' playing golf and the regular gin game with the guys, Scott had a wonderful balance in his life.
Scott and his family were bolstered by the outpouring of support of his many friends from the moment of his diagnosis. The family would like to give a special thanks to his Doctors for their care and advice as well as to all those who prayed for a miracle.
Scott is also survived by his parents Carl Lee and Margaret Brooks of Little Rock, one daughter Allison Brooks of Edmond, OK, two sons, Christopher Brooks of Erie, PA, and Jay McDowell (Michelle) of Conway, and his loving sister Karen Brooks Simpson (Jim). He was preceded in death by his brother Greg Brooks.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, April 30, 2012 at Church Alive on Hwy 65 North in Conway with a visitation beginning at 11:00 am prior to the service.
In Lieu of flowers the family asks memorials be made to the Faulkner County Cancer Society.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Conway. The online guest book maybe signed at www.rollerfuneralhomes.com

Nervous, and clueless about the process, I will never forget how Scott handled me, and made my first house buying experience a great one. That was 20 yrs. ago, and I will always remember him being a real Classy guy. Rest in Peace.
