Jon Paul Chapman

of Little Rock, AR

March 13, 1945 - December 29, 2011

Dr. Jon Paul Chapman Sr. died of a heart attack at his home on December 29, 2011.
Dr. Chapman owned Chapmans Eye Care in Hot Springs, AR. Following graduation from Southern College of Optometry Jon Paul served in the United States Army, and retired as a Lt. Colonel in the Reserves after 23 years of service.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Beverly Boone Chapman, and two sons: - Paul with his wife Lori, and Mike with his fiancé Liz as well as his 3 Sweeties Blakeley, Allison, and Sophie and his 2 big guys Caden and Josh all children of Paul and Lori.

He was the ultimate father and grandfather. He loved and adored his grandchildren, and they loved their Poppy. His death will leave a vast void in all of the lives of his family and friends, but his legacy of love and laughter will be forever.

There will be an open viewing at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home during normal business hours Monday and Tuesday. A family burial at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery on January 4th will be followed by a celebration of his life in the Chapel at Fellowship Bible Church 1401 Kirk Rd. Little Rock at 11 AM. Friends are invited to come and share this time with the family. There will be a potluck at the church; sides or desserts are welcome.

In lieu of flowers donations in Jon's name can be made to Hidden Creek Ministries 10905 W. Markham Rd. Little Rock, AR 72211.

Beverly and family, sometimes there are no words, but we just wanted you to know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. I know our paths don't cross very often but when they do it is like it was just yesterday that we were last together. We will always remember the fun times we had with you and Jon Paul back in the "60's & '70's when we were "young & crazy". You will always be one of my closest friends. If there is anything we can ever do for you, please let us know.
Friends always, Vicki & Amos

Dear Mrs. Chapman, family and staff,

I cherish the memories of each visit over the years spent with a true "gentleman doctor." Dr. Jon reminded me so much of my own father, who was an old-school physician too. To think that he treated each patient, not just me, with such unhurried thoroughness, interest and respect is to know that he left a vast legacy to all whose lives he touched. Just like all his patients, I looked forward to every visit, knowing we'd have an interesting conversation that would leave me knowing more about eye care for sure, but also more about Dr. Jon, such a uniquely fascinating person. He was so generous to share stories with his patients, leaving such a positive impact on each one. His caring nature is mirrored by his wonderful staff, who treats everyone with the same warmth that he did. Yes, it's a tremendous loss for everyone who crossed his path, but I hope it also provides great comfort and pride to his family to know how much he was loved and admired. God bless.

Mrs. Chapman,
I looked at Doc with such admiration. He was a wonderful doctor as well as an amazing man to work for. He taught me a lot in the years’ time that I was at the office. It honestly was not a place that I ever wanted to leave but Doc encouraged me to do more. He helped me get a scholarship for nursing school and for that I am so grateful. It’s hard not to see him here… but I know he is in a better place. I am praying for you and your family and I am glad to have known Dr. Chapman. I can truly say that he has impacted and influenced great things for me as well as others. God Bless, Diana Flaischaker

We will always remember the fun we had in Augsburg, Germany with Jon Paul and Beverly, Paul and Michael.
They were family to us while we were so far from the USA and better to us than most family we know. Jon Paul will be sorely missed by us for both his humor and warm spirit. We are so grateful he made it to Colorado with Beverly for Edie's wedding and we had some time together. We love you all and will talk to you soon Beverly. Wanda and Larry

Mrs. Chapman and family,

Your sorrow and sense of loss, Mrs. Chapman, and the sorrow of your children and grandchildren must be beyond measure. All of us who knew him, as a physician and friend, know this because our sorrow is so great, and yet we were just a small part of his life.
Dr. Chapman had a way of touching people deeply with his kindnesses and caring manner. His family, his patients and friends, his devoted and caring staff, and the whole Hot Springs community, have lost a great man .

May you be comforted in knowing the far-reaching impact he had in the lives of others. May God keep you in his care and help you through the days ahead.
Thank you for sharing the memorial tribute with those of us who will be unable to attend the services.
