Dixie Arline Rose Blankenship, 74, of West Memphis, AR, retired bookkeeper fot the West Memphis School District, passed away Friday, August 19, 2011 at her residence.
She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in West Memphis, formerly Ingram Blvd. Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lidell Elmer Blankenship and her parents, Sandford & Arline Rose.
She is survived by five daughters, Rosemary and Don Hodge of Plano, TX, Melanie and Rick Pratt of Marmaduke, AR; Joy Terral of West Memphis, AR;
Janet & Danny Haflich of Redwater, TX and Sandra & Rick Dyer of Memphis; three sisters, Lena Ray of Bentonville, AR, Polly Gibson of Marmaduke, AR and Jean Stallings of Marmaduke, AR; her brother, Sanford Porter Rose, III (Sandy) of Marmaduke, AR; grandchildren, Mark and Michael Hodge, Elizabeth, Rachel, Abigail, Deborah and Jesse Pratt, Jessica Terral, Lawrence and Meagan Terral, John Garner and Marlena Haflich, Alexandra and Christine Mulvaney and Miranda and Nicole Dyer and four great-grandchildren.
The visitation will be Monday, August 22, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis, AR. The funeral service will be Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at Grace Baptist Church. Interment will follow the service in New Liberty Cemetery in Paragould, AR. Memorials may be sent to Grace Baptist Church: 1399 North Missouri Street, West Memphis, AR 72301.
I was so deeply saddened to hear about Dixie, but I know that with her presence in Heaven that GOD now has a beautiful organ player. May the Lord give comfort to you with your loss.
Rosemary, we went to school together. I am lifting you and your family up in prayers. May God comfort and give you strength during this time

I was so saddened to hear the news of the loss of Mrs. Blankenship. She was always so kind, so sweet, and so encouraging to me in my life. She will be missed and I will always remember her with the sweetest of memories.

So sorry to hear that we lost another Angel here on Earth. But heaven now has a very special addition to it choir of Angels. She will be sadly missed. Prayers for the family.

Just wanted you to know how much we loved your Mom. So sorry about her death. We loved your Dad, and we remember so much all of you and your growing up years in West Memphis and at Ingram Blvd. Baptist Church. Hope to see all of you soon at the funeral.
Through the years our families have lost touch, but Aunt Dixie always remembered us with a Christmas card. May your memories you treasure carry you through this difficult time.

If there was an angel living here on earth, it was Dixie Blankenship. If there were ideal mothers, she was one of them. She always had time for you, to listen to you, to help you or give you advice. She knew something about everything. My heart will miss her but I know Heaven is sweeter now. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
