Curtis Payton Clark, 19, of Helena, passed away March 25, 2010, in Hot Springs, AR. He was born June 21, 1990, to Curtis Clifton and Andrea McCollum Clark, of Helena.
Clark was a 2008 graduate of DeSoto School in West Helena and a student at the University of Central Arkansas at Conway. While growing up in Helena, he was an active member of WyldLife ministries, having served as a WyldLife Leader, Young Life ministries, and St. John's Episcopal Church in Helena, where he served as an acolyte.
Having developed an interest in music as a young teenager, Clark grew proficient on the guitar and drums, performing regularly with fellow musicians and friends. He had a passion for blues music, having entertained festival-goers on the streets of downtown Helena during the annual Arkansas Blues and Heritage Festival.
Clark is survived by his parents, Cliff and Andrea Clark of 107 Green Acres, Helena, AR.; one brother, J.R. Brown and wife, Amanda, of Fayetteville; three sisters, Robin and Dorothy Clark, both of Helena, and Barbara Chang of Tucson, AZ; maternal grandmother, Jean McCollum of West Helena; paternal grandparents, Curtis and Jo Ann Clark of Helena; aunts and uncles, Alisa and Gerald Parker, of Fayetteville; Brad and Sharon McCollum, of Prosperity, S.C.; Marla Clark of Helena; and Mitch Clark of Tulsa, OK; cousins, Brad and Garrett Parker, of Fayetteville; Josh and Jason McCollum, of Alabaster, AL; and Callie and Tinsley Clark of Helena. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Ronald McCollum.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, April 2, at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in W. Helena. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, April 3, at St. John's Episcopal Church in Helena with Father Travis Frank officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery in Helena.
Pallbearers will be Kory Hill, Hayden Johnson, Casey Patterson, Nick McLendon, Brad Parker, Garrett Parker, Brett Gregory, and Jerome Pillow. Honorary pallbearers will be Drew Smith, Ryne Glover, Austin Delk, Lyle Wheeler, Curtis Gregory, Roger Patterson, Michael Brooks Griffin, and Kevin Smith.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church, 625 Pecan Street, Helena, AR 72342 or to the Arkansas Blues and Heritage Festival for the ''Payton Clark Memorial Bit of Blues Stage,'' P.O. Box 118, Helena, AR 72342.

Bubba was always so glad to see him when he came in to talk music and discuss all that was going on in Payton's musical world. Bubba was also impressed that at his young age he was intrested not only in hearing and playing music , but also in learning the history of blues music and Helen's part in it. We also remember him as a child coming shopping with Miss Jean and working at the supermarket. He was a very fine young man and will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.
