Peter Stovall, age 70, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, died Friday, November 21, 2008, at St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield, Missouri.
Visitation will be from Noon-9:00 P.M. Tuesday at Roller Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6-8:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Main Street Missionary Baptist Church, Mulberry, Arkansas, with Reverend Mike Lewis officiating. Interment will be in the Mulberry Cemetery.
Mr. Stovall was born January 24, 1938, in Greenville, Mississippi, to John A. and Willie O. Fletcher Stovall. On October 23, 1964, he married Merle Ann Cole in Opelika, Alabama. Mr. Stovall graduated from Auburn University with a degree in pharmacy. He had owned the Stovall Pharmacy in Mountain Home and was semi-retired, working at the Wal-Mart Pharmacy in Flippin. A Baptist, he was a U.S. Army veteran.
He loved his family and enjoyed hiking, swimming and kayaking, and working on his farm with his children and grandchildren. Mr. Stovall enjoyed serving people through his profession as a pharmacist.
Survivors are: his wife: Merle Ann Stovall: of the home; three sons: Peter (Robin) Stovall: Denver, Colorado; U.S. Army CW4 Cole (Beth) Stovall: Ft. Rucker, Alabama; and Lee (Michelle) Stovall: Ft. Smith, Arkansas; a daughter: Dallas Stovall: Mountain Home; a brother: Fletcher (Corinne) Stovall: St. Louis, Missouri; a sister: Christine Green: Troy, Alabama; seven grandchildren: Kaitlin, Hunter, Taylor, Luke, Ethan and Mackenzie Stovall; and Nick Friend; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: John A. Stovall; a sister: Nancy Anne Catledge; and a grandson: Nathan Stovall.

Sorry to be so belated. I spent a couple years playing football in Mtn. Home with the likes of Bill and Carl Keys, Billy Sherman, and Robert Edwards. At the age of 77 finally getting to my memories.

Wow! What a shock that Peter is gone. We will miss seeing him in Ouray, Colorado on his treks with Ann to the San Juan mountains.
Ann, I hope you continue to come to Colorado...hope to see you.

Mr. Stovall to me was a great man. I remember as though it were yesterday. When he and his wife made Dallas and I our prom dinner. What a wounderful time! I know I will miss his easing smile and firm hand shake. But along with other family and friends who have passed on. I will once again be honored to shake his hand. But until then I will continue to think of Mr. Stovall, Mrs. Stovall, Dallas, and the whole family.

I was very sorry to hear of Peter's accident and subsequent death. He and I were good friends from years ago in junior and senior high school.
We played football together, camped and hunted together, and participated in the various activities of Mountain Home High School, and just "growing up" in Mountain Home. Peter was a fine person.
