of West Helena, AR
April 9, 1924 - December 31, 2007
Maxine Mozell Lumpkin, 83, of West Helena passed away Monday, December 31, 2007 in Helena. Mrs. Lumpkin was born April 9, 1924 in Marianna to the late J.D. Davis and the late Daisy Ruth Barnhardt Davis.
Mrs. Lumpkin was a retired chief operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company of Helena, and the owner and operator of Maxine's Dress Shop. She was a member of West Helena Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church of Helena. For many years, she was an officer in B&PW Club. She was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary.
She was called ''Cine'' by her nephew, Cotton Rohrscheib. She was his aunt and grandmother all rolled up in one. Her other love was Mojo, Cotton's puppy. She could hold him for hours while both of them slept.
Mrs. Lumpkin liked to play games with her sisters, Ruby and Frankie. She loved to go to Joy Group at church with her sister, Dorothy. A weekend in Batesville with her sister, Helen and other eight sisters was fun, if she did not have to sleep in the same room with them. She said she slept three in one bed too much growing up with twelve kids.
She is survived by her sisters, Helen Baker of Batesville, Betty Ann Garrison and husband, Ed, of Houston, Texas, Mary Ruth Hollowell and husband, J.V., of West Helena, Linda Maier of Fairfield Bay, and Billie Sue Rohrscheib and husband, Henry, of Lexa; a brother, Joe Davis and wife, Kathy, of Athens, Georgia and Helena.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold Lumpkin; a brother, Gene Davis; sisters, Ruby Nelson, Dorothy McDowell, Frankie Grubbs and Sarah Grady; a nephew, Bill Baker.
Graveside services for Maxine Lumpkin will be held Thursday, January 3, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6-9 p.m. at Roller-Citizens. Reverend Dusty Rhodes will officiate.

You are in our thoughts and prayers. May God comfort you through this difficult time. God Bless You!
Aunt Maxine was a great Aunt and lady. She reminded me so much of my MeeMaw or Dorothy. They both loved to give to others There many times I would go over and help her with getting fruit out of her garden or the pears out of her tree and always seemed to leave with some of it. But I would never leave her house with out getting one of those big smiles and a big hug from her . She will be greatly miss
