Bonnie Hope Wallace

of Little Rock, AR

October 14, 1946 - August 28, 2004

Our beloved Bonny Hope Wallace, age 57, of Little Rock was welcomed into Heaven Saturday, August 28, 2004. She was born in Smackover, Arkansas on October 14, 1946.

She is survived by her husband, John Paul Wallace, mother, Mittie Enloe, sister, Geneie Wise, nieces, Jennifer Shields and Angela Crouse, great nieces, Haley Crouse and Olivia Shields, nephews, John Shields and Rob Crouse, great aunt, Juanita Smith and cousins, Sherry May and Jason Beck, along with her many friends whose lives were touched and enriched by knowing her. She was preceded in death by her father, Eddie A. Enloe.

Bonny was Instructor in Surgery and Laboratory Director for Surgical Research at the Department of Surgery at UAMS as well as Clinical Coordinator of Research at Arkansas Children's Hospital Burn Unit. She and Dr. Fred T. Caldwell were instrumental in pioneering the Arkansas Children's Hospital Burn Unit. Her current efforts were focused on cutting-edge research to promote Women's Health.

Her accomplishments were many and her awards of recognition are too numerous to mention. Her contributions to research have improved and even saved the lives of many. Her ability to give unselfishly and love unconditionally is unequaled.

We don't know if she consciously set out to leave the world a better place than she found it we only know she did. Thank you, Bonny, for your legacy of love.

Memorials may be directed to the Arkansas Children's Hospital Burn Unit and the UAMS Department of Surgery.

There will be a memorial service for UAMS faculty and staff from 7:00 until

9:00 A. M. Tuesday, August 31, 2004 at the Walton Auditorium of the Arkansas Cancer Research Center.

The memorial service will be Thursday, 2:00 P. M. in Roller Chenal Funeral Home Chapel (224-8300) with Brother Daniel Baker officiating. Interment will be in Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Dear Paul, Virgil and I want you to know how very sorry we are about your loss of Bonny. I remember seeing her at at least two of our Alumni Banquets and she was certainly a beautiful person. She was always smiling. We know you miss her deeply and our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all in this difficult time. Bonny was one of the kindest and most wonderful people I have ever known. I was privileged to work with Bonny at UAMS in the Department of Surgery for eight years. She was a joy to be around and always consistent in caring and helping people. Her home and garden reflected her gentle, kind spirit. We will miss her greatly.

My Dearest Ms. Mittie - You and our dear Bonnie's husband are in my prayers. I saw you for so many months at the Expo Center until I had so many health problems and couldn't get out. Ms. Bonnie was such a gracious and kind lady and your delicious baked things became our favorites. I enjoyed talking to you both and looking at the lovely things she created. Much love to you and know that she is certainly in our Father's house and there are many stars in her crown. Sue Culver

I did not have the privilege of knowing Mrs. Wallace, but from everything I've read and heard she was a wonderful woman. My father, Thomas George, does know her husband and he was very upset to hear the news. Our thoughts and prayers to your family.

I am so sorry about Bonny's senseless death. She was such a wonderful person and shone her light on so many of us in her years on earth. She will be missed by the entire community but most especially at what Bonny fondly called "The Miracle Center." Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Bonny was a good friend to everyone at Mabelvale High School. She continued to be the warm, caring and thoughtful person in her adult life that she expressed during the days we knew her at Mabelvale. The loss of her spirit and love will be greatly missed by those she leaves behind, but we are thankful for our memories of her. (Class of 64 and 65.)

Until today, when I saw Bonnie's picture in the obituary, I did not know that Bonnie, the jewelry lady and a regular visitor to the VA, was Bonnie, my old schoolmate. I am saddened that we did not recognize each other and I did not have the chance to talk with her about friends we knew & share family stories. My prayers are with you. God Bless.

Dear Paul & Miss Mittie: Bonny was a beautiful, special lady and she will be deeply missed by everyone. I know there are no words to ease your pain but I hope it brings you some comfort to know that Bonny's legacy will live on thru her many accomplishments and creations. Personally, I will never wear one of her beautiful designs without thinking of her contagious laugh and genuine smile. I'll miss her monthly visits to the VA, along with Paul's silly jokes and Mittie's wonderful baking. The three of you always brightened my day. My thoughts & prayers are with you and your family. - Cyndi

Paul and Miss Mittie: When I began buying all my wonderful jewelry from Bonny I didn't expect to make a new friend but how could you not love her! She was the warmest, friendliest person I ever knew - and Miss Mittie, she got that from you. I grew to know and love all three of you and I will miss visiting with you as much I miss Bonny. Words are simply inadequate to express my sadness and anger over her death, and my heart being broken for you both. But know that, not only is your family there for you now, Bonny is there - she's watching down and wants you to carry on her memory. She was an angel on Earth and God is blessed to have her now in Heaven. I love you both. Laura Epnett VA Hospital

Paul: Bonnie was my friend for at least 25 years. I loved her dearly. We worked in the old SICU burn unit when the one at ACH was just a dream. Since then, both of us have concentrated on research in medicine. Bonnie was so wonderful and had such integrity. She worried so about you, but did not let is show. I hope to see you at the funeral. We will be making an award in Bonnie's name for integrity in research. I would like to discuss it with you.
