Virginia Ruth Cassaday, of Little Rock, passed away on May 14, 2012. She was born January 14, 1922 in Chamberlain, South Dakota. She lived in Nettleton, Arkansas until she was 18 when she moved to Jonesboro, where she lived until 1953, having married Bill Cassaday on May 29th of that year. Ruth and Bill moved from Jonesboro to Little Rock in 1953. They have resided in Little Rock ever since. They were members of Immanuel Baptist Church since January 1954. Ruth was a member of the Elizabeth Sunday School Class during that time with about 5 years working with 4 year olds. She worked at Hancock Fabrics from 1970 to 1978 when she went to J.C. Penney until 1999. Ruth enjoyed working in the yard planting flowers and shrubs, reading and playing parlor games. She was one of seven girls. She was the daughter of A.R. and Eloise Virginia Honey. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were sisters Mary Wise of Jonesboro, Margaret Maise of Memphis, and Frances Skinner of Colorado.

She is survived by sons Ron Cassaday (Beverly) of Maumelle, and Ed Cassaday (Carolyn) of Little Rock; her daughter Laura Leftwich (Drew) of Forest, Virginia; granddaughters Chantay Buchanan of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, Genny Couch of Maumelle, Arkansas, Addison Leftwich of Forest, Virginia, and Victoria Cassaday of Little Rock; grandsons Shane Cassaday of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Greyson Leftwich of Forest, Virginia; great-grandchildren Jude and Abigail Lane and Micah Buchanan of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, Reece Mallory, Neely Kay, Palmer and Collier Couch of Maumelle, Hadon and Acelynn Cassaday of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home Chapel, (501)224-8300, with Dr. Charles Barfield officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hills Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, 501 North Shackleford, Little Rock, Arkansas 72211 in memory of Ruth Cassaday.
