Viva Hargett

of North Little Rock, AR

February 21, 1929 - March 14, 2024

Viva Nell (Tackett) Hargett passed peacefully from this world and ran into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, March 14, 2024. She was born on February 21, 1929 in Quitman, Arkansas to Huey Eugene and Clema Lucille Tackett. She was one of eight siblings, including her sisters, Lucille, Bertie Francis, Flo Neil and Robbie Jean; her brothers, Eldon and Raymond and a brother who passed away as an infant. She married her first and forever boyfriend, Elzy Maxell Hargett, on August 26, 1947 and together they raised five children.

Known to most as Vi, she was also proud to carry the names of Mom/Momma to her two sons and three daughters, MaMaw/Granny to her 11 granddaughters and 4 step-grandchildren and GiGi to her 15 great-grandchildren and 2 step great-children. In her 95 years of life, she had numerous accomplishments including playing on the Quitman High School basketball team, winning the Girls State Basketball Championship her senior year, working her way to Assistant Branch Manager at Worthen Bank where she worked for over 30 years and her marriage of over 63 years to the love of her life, Max Hargett.

She loved coupons, strawberry milkshakes, Razorback basketball, popcorn, Wheel of Fortune and pie, which made it fitting that she left this life on 3.14 (also known as Pi Day). Above all, she loved the Lord. She encouraged everyone to seek Him, raising her children in the church and helping to encourage her granddaughters and great-grandchildren to seek a relationship with God. She prayed relentlessly for everyone she knew, everyone she loved and forgave others as God forgave us all. She, along with her husband Max, was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in North Little Rock for over 38 years.

When she wasn't found working in her yard, moving her furniture to redecorate her house or meticulously fine-tuning her budget, she could be found supporting her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Vi showed up for everyone baseball, football, soccer, track, softball, cheerleading, volleyball, basketball, pageants, dance recitals, concerts, talent shows, fishing tournaments, garage sales, moving days, graduations, weddings and birthday parties. She always made sure to have a stash of favorite candy, snacks and other treats and she made a point to have each family members' favorite dish at holiday dinners. She loved her family beyond measure and was the constant supporter of each one, ensuring they all knew how much they were loved and cherished. Her joy was abundant when it came to her family and she always beamed with pride celebrating them all.

Vi is survived by her son, David (Cindy) Hargett; daughter, Cheryl Saville; daughter, Renee (Bobby) Jackson; cherished granddaughters and their spouses; great-grandchildren; her sister, Robbie Jean (Tackett) Holland and a host of friends; neighbors and family, including Gwen Fowler and Mark Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elzy Maxell Hargett; son, Larry Hargett; daughter, Rhonda Jones; 3 brothers; 3 sisters; her parents and many treasured family members.

The family would like to thank the staff of Robinson Nursing and Rehabilitation in North Little Rock and Gentiva Hospice.

Visitation will be held at First Free Will Baptist Church in North Little Rock on Monday, March 18th at 10:00 am. Funeral services will be held directly after, beginning at 11:00 am with interment to follow at Edgewood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made as memorial contributions to First Freewill Baptist Church.

David,
Sending hugs of comfort and strength at this difficult time. Our mommas are so dear and she sure had love in her heart for each of you and Our Savior. May you feel comfort that He has opened his arms and welcomed her into the doors of Heaven. May she rest in peace.
Love to all,

The Hargett Family has our deepest sympathy and prayers for your loss. We lived next door to Max and Vi on Osage Dr for 20 years. They were wonderful neighbors. We loved Max's apple pie and enjoyed visiting with Vi while she worked in the yard. They will be surely missed but will forever be in our hearts.

Please accept our sincere condolences for the passing of Vi. We went to church at First General Baptist years ago with Max and Vi and family. We loved them both, they were a hoot and sweet to us Harris girls. Prayers for the family.

The Hargett family is like a part of my family, having known them for many years. Vi was such a special person that I loved. Vi and my mother worked together at Tuff Nut sewing jeans before jeans were fashionable. I'm going to miss joking with her. You all are in my prayers for comfort.
