Luther (Luke) Holsonbake JR passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2024 in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Luke was born October 1, 1934 in Lexington, OK and traveled with his family to Bakersfield, California in 1935. Luke enjoyed his life on the farm, often spending long hours in the fields picking cotton or cutting hay. He attended BHS and graduated in 1953. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the USAF and spent much of his service in Germany and Turkey. When he was discharged from service he returned home and back to the farm; hauling potatoes and bucking hay. Luke married Carol Groves and together raised two sons, Blaine and Lance Holsonbake of Bakersfield, CA. Luke spent a long career in oil refining and research.
In 1990 he Married Ruth (Terri) Townsley and relocated to Stillwater, OK.
After his retirement he and Terri moved to Mountain Home, AR, where he loved to fish the White and Buffalo rivers. Luke loved the outdoors, spending much of his time boating and fishing. After his two boys graduated high school he obtained his private pilots licensed and spent many hours flying friends and family all over California.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; sons, Blaine and Lance; brother, David and sisters, Lynette Perry and Janine Layshot. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Luther and Georgia Holsonbake; brothers, Max Blevins and Obed Holsonbake and sister, Freda Esposito. Luke will be laid to rest at Baxter Memorial Gardens. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
