Billy "Bill" Eugene Lindsey

of Marianna, AR

February 14, 1937 - April 4, 2024

Billy Eugene Lindsey (Bill) was born February 14, 1937 in Cherry Valley, AR to Katy Goodman Lindsey and Henry Hassell Lindsey. Bill passed away at home on April 4, 2024 surrounded by family.

Bill is survived by his wife of 69 years and love of his life for 70 years, Ora Lee Richardson Lindsey; three children, Bobbie Jean Lindsey of the home, Billy Gene Lindsey Sr. and wife, Gina of Marianna; Loretta Lindsey Sanford and husband, Jerry of Pearcy, AR; eight grandchildren, Billy Gene Lindsey, Jr ''Bubba'', Kim Baker (Charles), Shane Rutledge (Jessica), Lindsey Martin (Chris), Kris Sanford (Crystal), Jenna Green (Mike), Heidi Pippenger (William) and Kasey Sanford Rowland; twenty three great-grandchildren and twenty five great-great-grandchildren; one brother, James Wilburn Lindsey and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Hassell and Katy Lindsey; three sisters, Louise Mathes, Georgia Chaney and Carrie Devazier; two brothers, Leroy and Hassell Lindsey and one great-grandson, Ben Gore.

Bill was loved by many and affectionately known as honey, daddy, dad, poppy Bill, grandpa, papaw, pops and Uncle Bill. He was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Marianna since 1966. He loved his savior, Jesus Christ, his wife, Orla and his family with passion. He was a hardworking farmer all his life. He loved farming and watching his crops grow into a bountiful harvest each year. He was wonderful husband and provider, father, grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law and friend. Bill was an avid adventurer and he has sown that seed in his family throughout the generations. His hobbies included motorcycle riding, traveling, boating, skiing, horseback riding, deer hunting, fabricating and flying. In his later years, he enjoyed being on his tractor, ''Mr. Amos'', cutting, raking and baling hay. He was always tinkering in the shop, working on things around the farm and taking care of the cows.

The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice for the great care they have provided over the last two years, special recognition to Channittia who has been with him from the beginning. The loss of Bill leaves a hole is so many hearts; he will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 5, 2024 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in Marianna, AR. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at First United Pentecostal Church of Marianna. Burial will follow services at Central Cemetery in Lexa, Arkansas. I know my words can't ease your pain but know all the way from Cali, I'm thinking about y'all. I have such fond memories of Uncle Bill. I didn't get to see him much, but he was my mama's favorite (shhh, don't tell anyone haha) she told us stories and she so loved that man, maybe that's why I always looked at him with such fondness. The whole Lindsey family. Please accept my most heartfelt and deepest condolences. Praying peace and strength as you go through these hard days. Wish I could be there. I love y'all buches!

I had the honor to be Bills Pastor for over 5 years. There has never been a finer man than Bill Lindsey. He was such a loving and kind man. Always a gentlemen, and always producing the “ fruit of the spirit” There isn’t enough words or time to fully honor him! He has run his race and finished his course! Well done Bro Bill! Well done! I will see you in heaven my dear Brother.

Oh, how I loved Uncle Bill! His massive work-worn hand enveloped my sticky little five-year-old hand as we walked down the lane together and I jabbered on and on while he just grunted his interest in all my childish chatter. This is the memory that I will treasure forever!
